Preparing For Laser Hair Removal

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

The best way to approach laser hair removal is to treat it as if it were some sort of minor surgery.  All though it is one of the safest procedures you can go through – risks, benefits, costs, and success rates should be discussed in great detail.

Now a days nearly anyone can have laser hair remove done, but medical history, medications and allergies should be discussed.  I’m pretty sure that the days are gone where a clinician needed to use an injection for minor pain relief because of modern advancements.  All the same though, some medications will react with the laser to cause an allergic reaction or blisters so every detail is important.

Certain methods can be dangerous if you have tanned recently so it would be wise to avoid sun exposure for at least 6 weeks prior to treatment.  Make sure that on the day of the appointments you are squeaky clean.  Any deodorants, lotions, creams can have adverse effects. With the exception of when the technical gives you an ointment to apply for a topic anesthesia.

2 – 3 days before the appointment go ahead a shave the area being treated and allow stubble to grow.  Do not under go any electrolysis, plucking or waxing before treatment.  And for those brave enough to take on the Brazilian, it is somewhat normal to get an erection, so ejaculating before you leave the house will help prevent this.  Sometimes even recommended.
